Running Robot

January 16, 2009 · 1 Comment

I love robots, always been and forever will. They can come in different shapes, sizes, looks and functions. Recently, the technology in perfecting humanoid has reached a breakthrough point, they can now run unsupported on their own feet. This is way beyond cool. Maybe in the near and not too distant future, we’ll be running side by side with them. Currently, the fastest speed Honda’s Asimo can run is 6km/hr, that’s slightly below my average speed. Just hope that it will run out of battery before I run out of juice. Scary..

Beijing Olympic Men’s Marathon

August 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The men’s marathon has ended and the record was broken as expected. Wansiru Samuel Kamau from Kenya finished the race at 2hrs 6min 32sec, smashed the previous record of 2hrs 9min 21sec set by Lopes Carlos from Portugal in Los Angeles, USA back in 12 Aug 1984. That’s about 3min improvement in time. 2nd place went to Gharib Jaouad from Morroco at 2hrs 7min 16sec behind, which is still an Olympic record breaker. Unfortunately, Haile Gebrselassie did not run for this event as he ran in 10km and finished at 6th placing. If he does run for this marathon event, it would be an easy gold for Ethiopia as he’s the current world record holder at 2hrs 4min 26sec, which is 2min way in front of the current Olympic record.
