Having taken an annual leave from my work on Friday, 22 June 2007, I believe I’ve spend enough time on the bed, sleeping and hibernating, conserving energy for my big day on Saturday. Yes, due to monsoon rain that hit almost every afternoon throughout the past few days in Kuching, I’m behind my scores, for both distance and speed goals. So, I decide to do some catch up on Saturday, 23 June 2007.
It was a wonderful morning, fairly sunny and less traffic. I started slowly by speed walking for a mile to warm-up the muscles, then some stretching. My target was to run as far as I could (certainly with a goal to smashed the 2nd longest distance record). My strategy is to run slowly at a pace of 6 to 6’ 30” per km and maintain a steady heart rate and breathing (damn it, I wish I got my new Heart Rate Watch with me today).
After 1 hour 45 minutes of running, I pull it off at 16.09 km. For the 1st time, I can really feel the exhaustion on my body especially my knees. I believe I can go further than this, physically but not mentally. Somehow, by knowing that you’re almost there (getting near to breaking your previous record), the last round seems to last forever.

I guessed Yuri was right all the way, ‘the mind is the weakest link’…
